"Freedom is momentary lapse between oppressors". A Prometheus Bound: A Folk Musical riffs on Aeschylus' classic work by setting it in 1930's Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl Era. Prometheus steals the fire of the big business bosses and helps the common working man out. Zeus, a big business boss, punishes Prometheus by chaining him to a farm for eternity. The question and comparisons between martyrs and tyrants ignites the play. Prometheus follows suit like other folk heroes of the time such as Tom Joad, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger. The production is greatly influenced by Guthrie's life and music, Steinbeck's portrayal of America, and the Dust Bowl photographs of Dorothea Lange. Featuring Karina Balfour, Kate Black-Regan, Sean Bradley, Eric Scotolati, and Griffin Stanton-Ameisan. For more information: www.renegadeclassictheatre.tumblr.com
